He has a documentary coming out very soon called My Bigfoot Life. It’s about his Bigfoot journey and encouraging people and families to enjoy nature. In 1982, CHRIS ALLSFORD saw the movie The Legend of Boggy Creek, and this sparked his interest in Bigfoot. As the years
and research evolved, he was exposed to the cryptozoology world, but Bigfoot remains to this day his favorite. In 1989, Chris left home and started travelling aboard the Roman Reefer, a refrigerated cargo ship. This started his passion for travel and exploration. In 1992, he joined the BritishArmy—of course the showoff in him meant he could only join the guards! During this time, he travelled extensively and was able to explore the forests of Poland and Germany, the jungles of South America, and many other places. During this time, he became friends with a family from Pennsylvania who allowed him the use of their
mountain lodge near Raystown Lake. Chris visited this area a few times, but his closest encounter was with a snapping
turtle! Part of his career path included becoming an adventure training instructor, so he studied to be a sailing instructor. This led to his first Cryptid sighting, an enormous Great White Shark in 2001 in the Bay of Biscay. It caused a lot of fuss at the
time, but without catching it, the interest soon dissipated. After leaving the army in 2002, Chris wanted to explore Canada and the USA, so what better way to do so than being a truck driver? He got to travel everywhere and volunteered for the remote places, keeping his eyes peeled, and selecting to drive at night. In 2014, he started a new career as a specialist within the power
industry. This involved a lot of travel and exploration. Chris has been to 50+ countries from the north of Norway and Sweden to the southernmost tip of Africa. From Vancouver, Seattle, and California to Asana in Kazakhstan, always looking for his elusive but excessively tall and hairy friend. The search continues now that he is a part of Daniel Lee Barnett’s Summit View Studios (SVS) team. Chris has also managed to convert his wife who translates reports from the former USSR for SVS
and shares a passion for adventure.

He first got into bigfooting in 2011 on an expedition in North Florida, where he and a friend experienced rocks being thrown at them while sitting around a camp fire. Since then, he has made it his personal goal to find out exactly what is roaming the woods of America.
In 2016, after becoming frustrated with the lack of true research expedition shows on TV, he created his own show, called “In the Shadow of Big Red Eye .” The show is currently filming their 9th season.
In 2018, Mike also created a docuseries called “Squatchables ,” which was created for people who are just getting into bigfooting, sort of a “Bigfooting 101.”
“With a passion for bigfooting and a history in video editing, I decided to make the first REAL show about what expeditions are truly about. You'll see RAW, UNCUT footage of what bigfooting actually is. If there is one thing I hope people gain from this show, is for families and friends to get off the couch and outside into nature to explore what this amazing world has to offer,” says Mike.
All of Mike’s episodes and more can be found on his YouTube Channel, “Sussex County Bigfoot.” In the Shadow of Big Red Eye is also on Facebook (same name), and Instagram @shadowofredeye.

For those of you who are wondering just what Weird N.J. is all about, let us try and explain. Weird NJ is a travel guide and magazine to places you won’t find on state funded maps or located on any tourist attraction pamphlets.
In Weird N.J. we travel to places that are seen for what they are; weird, odd or unique, all told by New Jerseyans to Mark Sceurman and Mark Moran, publishers of Weird N.J., while traveling the backroads of the Garden State in search of local unwritten history and modern folklore.
When we travel the state of New Jersey, we are looking for tales told only inside the perimeters of a town. These stories and places tell a story that cannot be found in any history books and are not often perceived as “history,”…until we arrive. The Weird NJ journal also has interviews with people we meet along the road who we feel have a story to tell, and stories sent in by subscribers telling their own Weird experience living in New Jersey. We also feature Weird N.J. News, a collection of newspaper articles compiled over the year, and the usual selection of places you may not want to visit, including underground tunnels, sewer drains, abandoned property and other sites that are brought to our attention at the local diner or “old man bar.”
Some of these sites deal with haunted dwellings, graveyards, UFOs and Bigfoot sightings, but that is a small part of what we are trying to accomplish. Our main goal is to record what people think or remember as being weird or odd in their town. It could be anything from a lawn filled with bowling balls, to an abandoned Nike missile base right in your backyard! Many of the sites we’ve recorded you can actually go see. Some are told just in legend, but never before recorded for publication. Some sites you cannot visit, but we thought you’d like to know they exist…somewhere in New Jersey.
